Oh-ho, the truth of Kempelen's motives comes out at last. He's a grudging performer, but he knows what he needs to do to move forward.
Also: I wasn't entirely sure what kind of responsibilities Anthon would have, so I took some reference from Killick's character in Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin books: he's half butler, half manservant. Unlike Killick, however, Anthon is rather more polished and refined.
