May 14, 2009 -- A more permanent retirement

Well, look who's here! He certainly looks a lot better than the last time we saw him. Maelzel and Wolf's elder brother are both named after a national saint of the Czech Republic, John of Nepomuk.

I've squashed history a bit, here: Count Cobenzl did offer von Kempelen a teaching position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, but not until 1801; von Kempelen declined on grounds of ill health, so I didn't think it too presumptuous to advance his illness a bit. Just like the people who commented last week, I am also of the opinion that nothing short of physical impairment could've forced Wolf into retirement.

Also, I know I've got them shaking hands left-handed; it's less a mistake and more to imply that Wolf can't let go his cane easily.

I just wanted to say again how glad I am that you're continuing this chapter. Thank you.

I'd like to echo Galadriel's sentiments. I can't explain why, but your webcomic is consistently fascinating and keeps me coming back for more. Your drawings, which were already beautiful and delicate in Vogelein (highly, highly recommended for anyone reading this that has not yet picked up those wonderful books!) are continuing to improve. And you have taken on a heck of a challenge telling a story that must be one of the least visual and least comicbook-friendly stories out there. I encourage you to see this through to completion and to publish a printed version. This is no small accomplishment.
